BGC Eats 2014

Last Saturday, I scored a ticket to a BGC Eats tour hosted by JJ Yulo. I’d been wanting to get a ticket to last year’s food tour but because I waited too long to claim mine, they were sold out by the time I got to the concierge.

This time, I was even more psyched to get a ticket of my own because I found out that Mylene Chung (one of the brain child’s behind Pepper.ph) would be giving tips in capturing appetizing and beautifully curated food shots.

One of the four lessons we learned was the importance of having natural lighting when shooting dishes of food. Restaurants usually make use of fluorescent of yellow lighting that tends to be harsh on photographs, so natural lighting is always best. We also got pretty cool makeshift reflectors which helped us manipulate the light even better.

Sarsa

Out of all the restaurants we went to that afternoon, I’d have to say that Sarsa was my favorite. Each bite was just packed with such savory flavors that I made a promise to come back for more!

Overall, it was a pleasant afternoon spent over food with Liza (a colleague of mine) and fellow food photographers alike. I’m definitely looking forward to next year’s new set of food tours!

P.S. A shout out goes to Ea, a friend of mine, who was one of the key organizers of the event. Congrats, sweets!
