A Quick Update || Leaving Spain

In a few days from now, I’ll be saying farewell to Spain for good. As much as I miss my family and friends, bidding adios to this country isn’t as easy. Then again, I tend to fall in love with the countries I stay in. Call me a romantic.

It’s been a good 2 and a half months so far in beautiful relaxed Spain. In totality, I’ve probably spent about 7 months here, going in and out of the country every few months.

I’ve seen Andalucia come alive in the spring, where ferias are aplenty and dozens of girls shimmy their way in stunning flamenco dresses. I’ve cultivated a deep(er) affection for pitchers of sangria and bottles of semi dulce wines — oh and those little plates of olives too!

But my experience of Spain isn’t all vibrant and cheery. I’ve witnessed its dullness when everything turns to gray as strong winds demand attention and temperatures drop to single digits. I’ve seen shriveled up vines that pay respect to the harsh winter. I’ve also cursed one too many times at how even 4 layers of clothing still isn’t enough to keep me warm — basically, I’m horrible in the cold.

Despite all that, I’ve grown to appreciate Andalucia, in both its contrasting seasons.

Now that I’m leaving soon, I find myself wanting to document every single thing. Every moment seems more sacred than before. I make a mental note of all the tiny details, and whip out my camera every time I’m afraid I’ll forget. But I’ve also taken a step back sometimes, for fear that I would’ve lost presence over documentation. It’s a tug of war between my heart and my mind really. Then again, isn’t it always?

In other completely unrelated news, this year I told myself to step out of my comfort zone. After much prodding from my friends, I finally decided to put up a vlog channel. So far, my videos are made up of monthly favorites, Spain adventures, and fun times with the husband. It’s been a heck of a lot of work, to be honest. I never thought I’d stutter so much in front of a camera (without a script)! I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to delete useless rambles, “uhms”, and whatnot.

Oh well, here’s to improving new skills!

Btw I’m working on more Spain-related content in my vlog so I’d love it if you subscribe to my channel.  There’s definitely a whole lot more in store for the next few weeks!
